“You will be truly fulfilled when you do the impossible for somebody else.”

By our nature, Australians are a very giving lot.  We look after each other and share a sense of natural kinship that is recognised and admired globally.  As a grass-roots reflection of our caring for those in need, many Australians now embrace the personal satisfaction and genuine community benefit that comes from donating to important causes.

While OAK Tasmania receives some funding from the government each year to assist our dedicated efforts in the community, almost 60% of our annual turnover comes through our own business initiatives, outside grants and donations. These sources are the primary factors that truly enable OAK Tasmania to offer such unique programs, premier services and pioneering special opportunities to so many Tasmanians with disabilities.

Every time we launch a new program or see the proud smile on one of our members’ face as they achieve something they never thought possible, we are reminded why we continue to expand our visions beyond State and Federal funding streams… and why we feel so good about asking for help along the way.

Each day at OAK Tasmania, we personally rediscover the truth in these words: “Accepting help, is a gift to the giver.”

HOW MUCH DO I GIVE and WHERE DOES IT GO?

Endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), OAK Tasmania is an ideal pathway for those who feel inspired to make a genuine and lasting impact on Tasmanians with disabilities.

For as little as $10, you can contribute in ways that really make a difference!!  Just to give you an idea…

  • $10 (the price of a coffee and a muffin) could buy a photo album for our unique scrap-booking program.
  • $50 (a meal out with a friend) could fund several entrance fees to museum exhibits, day passes at animal sanctuaries, boat rides and tourist attractions. This same gift would buy ten weeks worth of card making equipment for our popular personal gift-card making program.
  • $500 could fund a full special skills tutoring program, buy a wheelchair, hire a facility for a new initiative or even purchase a new computer for OAK technology and Learning.
  • $1000 could buy a digital stills or video camera for the OAK Photography program, a new projector and screen for OAK Technology and Learning, new chairs to help support our clients with mobility challenges or a full year’s supply of craft items.

There’s no limit to how your gift may impact not only OAK Tasmania, but also the very real dreams and lives of those in our care.  Our donors truly are the difference that makes the difference and we are grateful for every dollar that comes into our care.
