National Volunteer Week 2009

Volunteers at Oak Tasmania’s Technology Learning Centre (TLC) were recognised for their contributions and presented with Certificates of Appreciation at a morning tea hosted by Oak Tasmania CEO Mr John Paton.

Mr Paton commended the Volunteers on their excellent work and highlighted the positive lasting impacts their efforts have on the learning of clients and program participants.

“Our clients at the TLC are certainly richer for your support, as you add a perspective to learning that only comes from experience and insight from the real world of Information Technology and a genuine care for others."

 

“You have something of value to offer others and you do so freely without seeking recognition or reward, regardless of how big or small that contribution may be.”
Mr Paton said Volunteers are essential to support the on-going work of charitable and not-for-profit organisations in Tasmania, where almost one-third of the adult population (130,000 people) volunteer every year.

National Volunteer Week is run annually between 11-17 May and is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia.
