Oak Tasmania is a progressive organisation, dedicated to providing supported employment, training, accommodation and day services for people with disabilities. The commercial activities of the company provide products for general consumption. In providing these products and services it is necessary to collect personal information.

Oak Tasmania is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information held and will handle the information in a responsible way in accordance with the Privacy Act.
Oak Tasmania is committed to complying with the National Privacy Principles.
THE NATIONAL PRIVACY PRINCIPLES
The Federal Government's Privacy Act outlines the National Privacy Principles, these principles ensure that personal information held by Oak Tasmania is handled responsibly.
COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Oak Tasmania will only collect information of a personal nature where it is relevant to the product or service to be provided. It is preferred that information be collected directly from individuals however if this is not possible it may be obtained from other sources, Oak Tasmania will disclose what these sources are.
In providing support services to individuals it may be necessary to collect information relating to an individual’s medical history, where possible this information will be obtained from the individual or if this is not possible from other sources with the individual’s consent.
In supplying a product Oak Tasmania may obtain credit information about individuals from, and provide it to, credit reporting agencies in accordance with the Privacy Act and Credit Reporting Code of Conduct. We will only do so with the individual’s consent
HOW THE INFORMATION IS USED
Oak Tasmania will limit the use of personal information to the provision of a product or service, the establishment of a credit account or to fulfil any legal requirements.
SHARING AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We will not disclose information about an individual to any other organisation without consent. Personal information may be shared with other divisions of Oak Tasmania.
SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal information in document form is filed in secure storage with access restricted to those who specifically need it to conduct their responsibilities. Computer records are protected with secure passwords and other security measures.
Staff who are responsible for handling records are aware of the requirements of the National Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act.
ACCURACY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
Oak Tasmania will take reasonable measures to ensure that information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
